Washington Metropolitan Area Tech Councils

DC Tech is a membership organization of technology, associate, and affiliate companies that are focused on increasing business opportunities and access to capital, strengthening our workforce and developing the right public policy to establish Washington DC as the nation's technology capital.

Technology Council of Maryland is a consortium of high technology firms, federal laboratories, education institutions and business support firms that collectively form the Maryland technology community.

Northern Virginia Technology Council is the membership association for the technology community in Northern Virginia.

New E-Conomy Advisory Group, composed of District-based high tech CEOs, worked with DC Councilmember Catania to develop the New E-Conomy Transformation Act of 2000 . The bill was designed to encourage high technology companies to locate and stay in the District.

DC Office of the Chief Technology Officer develops and enforces policies and standards for information technology in the District government.

A Region Divided, compiled by the Brookings Institute, documents how the Washington metropolitan region is divided by race, income, jobs, and opportunity, with much of the harmful impact being felt in Southeast, Washington, DC.

Technology Counts 2001, Education Week's fourth annual report on the state of school technology, includes in-depth articles, state data tables, and state-by-state updates.

Potomac Technology Empowerment Center is dedicated to fostering a regional support structure for local Community Technology Centers.

Morino Institute explores the Internet and the New Economy as a means to advance social change. Some of their areas of interest include stimulating entrepreneurship with Netpreneur and helping youth organizations integrate technology into their out-of-school programs with YouthLearn.

Digital Divide Network offers extensive information, tools and resources that help practictioners stay on top of digital divide developments.

Digital Divide Web is the Federal clearinghouse for information about efforts to close the Digital Divide.

Community Technology Centers' Network (CTCNet) is a national, nonprofit organization of over 500 community technology centers.

The Nonprofits' Policy & Technology Project is OMB Watch's three-year initiative to improve communications linkages within the nonprofit sector in order to strengthen public policy participation.

Local Technology Training

Byte Back is a nonprofit organization which collaborates with other DC organizations to provide computer training for low-income DC area youth and adults.
